Аs part of the Schwartz Days program in Maykop, the Scientific Library of Adyghe State University hosted a presentation of the book " Evgeny Schwartz . Selected Works " published by the Adyghe University Publishing House.
This is the first book of selected works by Evgeny Schwartz published in Adygea. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that Schwartz's works are illustrated for the first time by Adyghe artists.
Among the artists who illustrated the book are People's Artist of Russia and People's Artist of the Republic of Adygea Teuchezh Kat, People's Artist of the Republic of Adygea Abdullakh Bersirov, young artists Mazaga Tesheva-Gucheva and Leyla Musayeva , and others. The book was prepared for publication by Leyla Kurashinova, Editor-in-Chief of the Adyghe University Publishing House .
This publication, dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the birth of poet, writer, playwright, and publicist Yevgeny Lvovich Schwartz (1896–1958), includes selected works: school poems; children's fairy tales "The Story of the Old Balalaika," "The Carbine," "Two Brothers," and "The Tale of Lost Time"; plays for drama ("The Dragon," "An Ordinary Miracle," and "The Story of a Young Spouse") and puppet theater ("The Puppet City," "A New Fairy Tale"); and film scripts ("Cinderella," "Don Quixote").
The collection includes works across various genres, fully capturing the scope of Yevgeny Schwartz's artistic talent—there was no genre in which he felt insecure; everything in his work is interconnected and harmonious.
The book is illustrated by some of the best artists in the Republic of Adygea, both established and emerging. The artists who worked on the book conveyed the world of Evgeny Schwartz with the same love he felt for all people.
These artists represent different generations—the oldest is 81, and the youngest is 20—but they share a completely new vision of the text and its protagonist, a contemporary interpretation of traditional values, and, most importantly, a declaration of love for a remarkable writer and playwright—an ordinary magician, Evgeny Schwartz.
The presentation was attended by the team of authors who worked on the publication, the artists who illustrated the book, Evgeny Schwartz's granddaughter, Maria Olegovna Kryzhanovskaya ,a researcher of Evgeny Schwartz's work, the scientific editor of the Complete Works of Evgeny Schwartz in 10 Volumes, and PhD candidate Elena Voskoboeva, as well as members of the public.
