A meeting of the Academic Council, comprising its newly appointed members, was convened at Adyghe State University. The session was chaired by Murat Bedanokov, First Vice-Rector of ASU. During the meeting, participants approved the redistribution of vacant budget-funded places in accordance with the Rules for the Redistribution of Vacant Places. Additionally, the chairpersons of the State Examination Commissions for 2027 were appointed, and the core professional educational programs for undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate studies were ratified. The curricula for full-time, part-time, and distance learning formats within these programs were also approved.

The keynote address, titled "International Activities of Adyghe State University: Growth Points," was delivered by Susanna Tlekhatuk, Vice-Rector for International Affairs.

Keynote address

In her introduction, Susanna Tlehatuk highlighted that ASU considers national policies and economic interests in its strategic activities.

ASU’s international activities encompass a broad range of initiatives, including training and internship programs for foreign citizens; sending university staff abroad as part of academic exchange initiatives; and expanding the scope and outreach of partnership activities through representative engagements. These include international travel by university staff to participate in global educational and scientific events, the signing of international cooperation agreements, and the cultivation of international contacts.

The university’s system for recruiting and training international students plays a vital role in increasing the international student body at ASU. Currently, the university hosts students and attendees from over 33 countries.

The International Division of ASU conducted a comprehensive analysis of the primary challenges faced in the realm of international activities over the past year. Based on the findings, it was recommended to strengthen oversight of international students' attendance, academic performance, and tuition payments. Additionally, it is essential to continue efforts to facilitate the adaptation and active engagement of foreign citizens in the academic, scientific, athletic, and cultural life of the university. Developing new curricula that are in demand abroad, particularly in partner countries, is also emphasized.

Furthermore, it is proposed to intensify efforts to attract gifted and talented schoolchildren and students to participate in university Olympiads and summer schools. Strengthening collaboration with partner universities in friendly nations is also a key strategic priority.

“Despite the aforementioned challenges, the prospects for expanding Adyghe State University's international initiatives remain promising in the current environment. The university possesses a strong foundation, including an established system for engaging with international students, reputable academic schools, and a distinctive ethnocultural mission,”  stated Susanna Ruslanovna.

Following the review and discussion of the report by the Vice-Rector for International Affairs of Adyghe State University, the Academic Council acknowledged that the university possesses substantial potential to develop collaborations with international educational institutions in Uzbekistan, Belarus, Turkey, China, the United Arab Emirates, and Brazil. The Council also resolved to expand partnerships with BRICS countries, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan to increase the enrollment of international students in ASU's master's programs, implement joint educational initiatives, promote academic mobility for faculty and students at partner universities, and facilitate the participation of foreign nationals from these countries in the ASU Summer Methodological University.

Additionally, the Council committed to broadening cooperation in scientific and technological fields.

It was also decided to continue collaboration with Heilongjiang University within the framework of the Alliance of Chinese and Russian Universities for Language Education and to participate in the "Chinese-Russian International Cloud Classroom" program. Moreover, the Council agreed to initiate preparations for establishing a Russian Language Study Center at the Denau Institute of Entrepreneurship and Pedagogy in the Republic of Uzbekistan.
