Ruslan Akhtaov, Director of the ASU Institute of Physical Culture and Judo, Shares Insights in Radio Russia Adygea Interview Celebrating the Department’s Anniversary

This year commemorates the 55th anniversary of the Institute of Physical Education and Judo at Adyghe State University. To celebrate this significant milestone, a new episode of Maria Volynskaya's radio program on "Radio Russia. Adygea" features Ruslan Akhtaov, Director of the Institute of Physical Education and Judo at Adyghe State University.

The interview delved into the institute’s origins, beginning with its inaugural graduating class of 1975, which comprised only 47 students. Among its alumni are distinguished sports ministers, Olympic medalists, and world champions. The discussion also highlighted the institute’s achievements, noting that 80% of graduates are employed in their field. Many students engage in teaching physical education and coaching young athletes as early as their third and fourth years of study.

Ruslan Akhtaov examined the intricacies of contemporary education during the discussion. Emphasizing the importance of aligning graduates’ skills with labor market demands, he highlighted that the curriculum extends beyond traditional academic disciplines and Olympic-level competitions. Currently, students are also engaged in courses such as rafting, orienteering, tourism, and adapted physical education for working with children with special needs.

A dedicated segment was also allocated to judo, which serves as a hallmark of the institute’s identity. The conversation naturally recalled the legendary Yakub Koblev and his contributions. Additionally, Akhtaov outlined the institute’s strategic plans for the future, focusing on how it aims to prepare specialists equipped for the challenges ahead.
