Since the beginning of the year, Adyghe State University has held four preventive events with officers from the Republic of Adygea’s Ministry of Internal Affairs. Law enforcement officers and security experts spoke with students about the consequences of breaking the law and how to protect themselves from fraud and terrorism. The meetings were open to students from all ASU clusters and year groups.

The speakers addressed common fraud schemes, cybercrime, and efforts to counter extremism. Ministry officers explained how young people can become involved in illegal activities without fully understanding the consequences, as well as the penalties such offenses may carry. A representative of the Center for Combating Extremism outlined what constitutes extremist and terrorist crimes and shared practical examples of how reckless actions can lead to administrative or criminal penalties.

Particular attention was given to the online distribution of illegal content, methods used to recruit young people, and ways to stay safe in the digital environment.

The discussion also addressed the illegal trafficking of narcotics. An officer from the anti-drug unit shared real-life examples illustrating the dangers of drug addiction and explained how dealers may entice young people into criminal activity by promising “easy money.”

Traffic compliance was another key topic. Students were reminded of road safety regulations and the rules governing the use of scooters, bicycles, and personal mobility devices. Officers also clarified the requirements for motorized vehicles, including pit bikes, which are not designed for use on public roads.

The session concluded with the officers answering students’ questions.
