At the university-wide conference of staff and students of Adygea State University, held today, the election of a new Academic Council—the university's main governing body—took place. As a reminder, the previous term expired at the end of May.

At the university-wide conference of staff and students of Adygea State University, the election of a new Academic Council—the university's primary governing body—took place on June 8. As a reminder, the previous term concluded at the end of May.

Prior to the vote, ASU Rector Daud Mamiy expressed his gratitude to the outgoing Academic Council for their dedicated service and outlined the key objectives for the new council.

"Following the election, the newly elected Academic Council will assume responsibility for implementing the university’s development program. It is important to note that this program was adopted in 2021, and over the past five years, we have invested significant effort into its execution. A notable feature of the program is its alignment with the "Priority 2030" initiative, which was launched in 2021 as a strategic framework for academic leadership. Our participation in this initiative has been quite successful, as we have been part of a core group of universities. Last year, in 2025, the program received endorsement from Russian President Vladimir Putin, who praised its overall achievements. It was subsequently decided to extend the program for future years; however, its content has undergone a fundamental transformation. It is now called the "Strategic Technological Leadership Program. For classical universities like ours, this transition presents a significant challenge. Previously, the focus was on transforming universities as comprehensive entities. Now, the emphasis is on transforming the university with a focus on the national development trajectory—achieving technological leadership. Attaining this leadership requires tangible technological results and a shift towards a product-oriented approach. This shift has been particularly demanding for traditional universities, as adapting to this framework is complex. Nevertheless, we successfully defended our projects twice in 2025 and received commendation from both the review committees and experts. Our efforts were highly praised, and as a result, we were promoted to Group 2 within the Priority program. Currently, we rank among the top 35 universities in the country, which is a substantial achievement and entails great responsibility. It is a challenging path ahead, requiring continued validation of our progress. Accordingly, a significant responsibility rests with the Academic Council as the expert community tasked with analyzing current developments, setting new goals, and determining the strategic direction."

The election was conducted by secret ballot, with all 114 delegates representing the university’s departments and services participating. They voted to support or reject candidates from the approved list of nominees. Based on the results, a new Academic Council has been formed. It comprises 39 members. Additionally, in accordance with the charter, the council includes the ASU rector, vice-rectors, and heads of faculties and institutes. Furthermore, by decision of the previous Academic Council, the heads of the university’s research and educational clusters established over the past five years were also incorporated. As a result, the new Academic Council consists of 59 members:
