The International Faculty of Adyghe State University held an essay competition, "My Beloved A.S. Pushkin." Organized by the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language, the event coincided with two significant dates: Russian Language Day and the great poet's birthday.
Fourteen students from the preparatory department participated in the competition . For them, learning Russian is inextricably linked with immersion in Russian culture. Currently, over 50 foreign citizens are studying in the department, and such events are an integral part of their linguistic and cultural adaptation.
In their essays, the participants shared their views on Pushkin's works, which they encountered in the preparatory program. Elsa Kasa , a Syrian student who has been studying Russian at ASU for 10 months, read an excerpt from her essay .
"The main goal of the event is to see how each international student understands and experiences Pushkin in their own way. Despite all the attention paid to his work in the curriculum, each student's personal approach remains unique," noted Zamira Khuazheva, Head of the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language.
The Department of Russian as a Foreign Language regularly hosts creative and adaptive events for preparatory students, including recitation and essay competitions, and other activities. This helps international students gain a deeper understanding of the Russian language and culture.
